The Crucifixion of Jesus

At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.

Matthew 27:51

In The September-11 Crucifix, I show how a nest of cubes encoded within the 9/11 attacks unfold to form a crucifix, which was a symbol of the crucifixion of Jesus Christ. This evidence and other clues gleaned from 9/11 and the NIV Bible led me to conclude that 9/11 represented the Crucifixion. I would now like to look at parts of the Crucifiion narratives within the NIV Bible and show how they provide further evidence for this incredible assertion, through encoded numbers and their relationship to the plaintext words. The parts I am focusing on are central to those narratives. They are the Superscription, the death of Jesus, the two criminals, the soldier's spear, the splitting of the temple curtain and the darkness that settled over Jerusalem as Jesus died.

The Superscription

The previous page showed that Matthew's version of the Superscription, the words above Jesus' head on the Cross, was the focus a remarkable concentration of cubes, from the chapter number to the wording itself. Let's begin a deeper analysis by extending our attentions to all four versions of the Superscription. Here they are. I have also calculated their ordinal values, as usual.

Book, Chapter and Verse Superscription Words Ordinal Value
Mark 15.26 THE KING OF THE JEWS 185
 -    Sum = 1170

The sum of 1170 is the combined value for this statement of the Second Coming. [1]

Jesus' Second Coming (c) = 1170

It is also the standard value of another similar statement:

Christ's Advent (s) .............= 1170

Import figurate numbers are encoded in the four Superscription statements. Matthew's statement has an ordinal value of 343, the cube of 7. John's statement has an o.v. of 373, which is a fractal snowflake. The number 373 is also the standard value of Logos, Greek for Word, a concept that is introduced in the very book within which the number is found: John ("In the beginning was the word . . ." John 1:1, NIV)! Bearing mind the location of Jesus' crucifixion, this word and its standard value are also of interest.

Golgotha (s) = 373

There are other encoded geometric numbers here and three of them, found in the numerical properties and biblical locations of these four Superscription statements, imply the number 888, which defines Jesus above all others. 888 is the standard value of Ihsous (his name in Greek), with eight itself standing for superabundance, resurrection and new beginnings. . Here are the four Superscription verses.

Matt. 27.37 Above his head they placed the written charge against him: THIS IS JESUS, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Mark 15.26 The written notice of the charge against him read: THE KING OF THE JEWS.
Luke 23.38 There was a written notice above him, which read: THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
John 19.19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.

The salient properties of these verses are the sums of their ordinal values, the sums of the chapter and verse signifiers and the concatenation (running together) of the chapter and verse signifiers and the positional value of the verse within each book, testament and Bible. All of these are shown below.

Verse Concatenation Ordinal Value Position in Book
Matt. 27.37 2737  826  1019
Mark 15.26 1526  618  632
Luke 23.38 2338  698 1078
John 19.19 1919  891  799
204  8520 = 120 x 71 3033 = 337 x 9 3528 = 882 x 4
8th square pyramid 8th tetrahedron 8th hexagram Second Advent (s) = 882

Each of the sums is either the eighth member of a geometric series or a multiple of the eighth member. Note that all the geometric figures are related to the triangle, potent symbol of the Trinity. So we have an '888' associated with these four Superscription verses. [2] 204 in partcular embodies 888 as its length, width and height are all eight units.

In addition, the sum of the positional values within each book is a multiple of the standard value of "Second Advent". The positional value of Matthew's superscription verse is particularly interesting, the digits of 1019 suggesting 9/11.

There are further encoded numbers here, but I'd just like to point out that the ordinal value of Matthew 27.37 is particularly fascinating, and a demonstration of just how meaningful gematria can be. Remember that Jesus was crucified on the eve of the Jewish festival of passover.

Matthew 27:37 (o) ......= 826
The crucified Lord (s)  = 826
Passover (s) ...............= 826

Matthew's description of the Crucifixion is the first of the four and the large number of encodings associated with this narrative is evidence that a principle of primacy operates in the New Bible Code (it also operated on 9/11). [3]

The Splitting of the Temple Curtain

Just before Jesus died the temple curtain split in two. The significance of this phenomenon is discussed in The Day of Atonement. This is mentioned in three of the gospel accounts, and if we tabulate the gematria of each verse and their positional values within the NIV Bible, new Testament and each book we see further evidence.  Here are the three verses.

Matt. 27.51 At that moment the curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth shook and the rocks split.
Mark 15.38 The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.
Luke 23.45 for the sun stopped shining. And the curtain of the temple was torn in two.

The Death of Jesus

The moment of Jesus' death on the cross is recorded in each of the four gospels. These verses are encoded in such a way as to link them with 9/11, through the key numbers 11 (the twin towers and 9/11) and 5 (the Pentagon, which represented the Crucified Lord). Here they are, along with their gematria and positional values within the NIV Bible.

Matt. 27.50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
Mark 15.37 With a loud cry, Jesus breathed his last.
Luke 23.46 Jesus called out with a loud voice, [. . .] When he had said this, he breathed his last.
John 19.30 When he had received the drink, [. . .] With that, he bowed his head and gave up his spirit.

The Two Criminals

Crucified alongside Jesus on Calvary were two criminals. Here is Luke’s mention of the criminals, which I found to be encoded with the number 11, the key that unlocks the meaning of 9/11.
32. Two other men, both criminals, were also led out with him to be executed. (Luke 23:32, NIV) 2332 = 53 x 44

Luke 23:32 (o) = 693 = 11 x 63

The chapter and verse numbers, read as a single number, give 2332:

2332..... ..................= 11 x 212

This is significant because in Luke’s mention of the criminals both the verse itself and the number derived from the chapter and verse are multiples of 11, whereas in the other gospel accounts, neither are. This is an example of a statistically-unlikely confluence of numbers from independant sources.
Another example is again the ordinal value of Matthew 23:32, which is the standard value of the name given only in Luke for the place of Jesus’ crucifixion.

Luke 23:32 (o)   = 693 = 11 x 63
The Skull (s) ...  = 693 = 11 x 63

In Matthew, Mark and John the area is known as ‘The Place of the Skull’; only in Luke is it called ‘the Skull’. This name is found in the very next verse: Luke 23:33.

When they came to the place called ‘the Skull’, there they crucified him, along with the criminals —one on his right, the other on his left. (Luke 23:33, NIV)

Luke 23:33 (o) = 1210 = 11 x 11 x 10

Here we see the key number 11 encoded within a passage describing Jesus’ crucifixion.

The Soldier's Spear

John 19.34, NIV

Instead one of the soldiers pierced Jesus' side with a spear, bringing a sudden flow of blood and water.

John 19.34 (o) = 911

The Torn Curtain

The relationship between the Crucifixion and the Day of Atonement is implied in an unusual way by the gematria of this verse.

Mark 15:38 (NIV) The curtain of the temple was torn in two from top to bottom.

Mark 15:38 (o) .............= 658

Atonement Day (s).= 1316 = 658 x 2

The ordinal value of the verse is exactly half of the standard value of the phrase. Normally, you would rightly expect them to be equal, but this neatly suggests the tearing of the curtain in two! In addition, Mark 15:38 is marked with the key number 11: it is the 649th verse in Mark, this being 11 x 59. Neither Matthew nor Luke’s account is marked in this way, so we have a confluence of independently encoded numbers in Mark’s account.

The overall theme of the New Bible Code is Christ’s Second Coming, which is also implied here.

Atonement Day (s)......................... = 1316 = 658 x 2

Jesus Christ + Second Coming (s) = 1316 = 658 x 2

In The September-11 Cube, I show how the three strkes on the 9/11 targets can be represented by three symbolic slices through the nested cubes encoded in their names. This solves part of the geometric puzzle set for us by creating new gematria which firmly links 9/11 to the Second Coming of Jesus Christ.

In The September-11 Crucifix, I said that the three strikes on 9/11 represented the crucifixion of Jesus of Nazareth and the two criminals. Now we see that they also represented the tearing of the temple curtain, which occurred at the moment of Jesus’ death on the cross.

However, these three slices can also symbolise the torn curtain the Most Holy Place! This symbolism is strengthened when we recall that the Bible describes three Most Holy Places (Tabernacle, Temple and New Jerusalem), that there were three barriers to be crossed to reach the inner sanctuary of the Tabernacle and that the High Priest entered the inner sanctuary three times in the performance of the Rite of Atonement.

The torn curtain .............................Cube 729 ‘Sliced’ Three Times

For Christians, Jesus Himself is the new temple curtain, the way to God’s sanctuary. This is how Paul describes the significance of the Crucifixion in Hebrews.
Hebrews 10:19-22 (NIV) Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us of a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water.

On 9/11 the Pentagon and twin towers, the names of which enocde the three cubes, represented the three curtains of the tabernacle. Their destruction represented the tearing of the three tabernacle curtains/breaking of the two tablets and thus the lifting of the barriers between God and man represented by the tabernacle, now pierced, like Jesus was on the cross.

1. The number is also part of a beautiful set of encodings involving mathematical numbers and relating the theme of the Crucifixion to the fundamental encodings found at the beginning and the end of the NIV Bible.

2. The separate sums of all the chapter indicators and all the verse indicators are 84 and 120, the 7th and 8th tetrahedral numbers. Bullinger has some interesting comments about 7 and 8 combined.

3. Another example is the first few words of the NIV, which are so thickly encoded with important numbers as to merit the description 'holographic'.

4. In the Jerusalem temple, this curtain was a massive affair, sixty feet high and four inches thick.
